GEORGE PITTS 2026

We’re taking a little trip through the photography of George Pitts (1951–2017), an American photographer, editor and teacher widely recognized for the huge influence he had on editorial and contemporary photography.

About 11 years ago I already invited you to check out his Tumblr, but between one thing and another, a lot of images were left sitting in the drawer. So today felt like the perfect excuse to recover part of that material and also revisit his photographic career, his style, and that very particular way he had of capturing bodies, scenes and moments with a mix of eroticism, naturalness and aesthetics that’s incredibly hard to imitate.

From a Freudian perspective, the internet would be little more than one giant therapist's couch filled with unresolved trauma.
Every bikini selfie would hide a childhood conflict, every topless photo would be a desperate cry from the unconscious, and every OnlyFans account would be another complex waiting to be analyzed.

Freud would have made a fortune by now... and he probably would've opened an OnlyFans account himself just to study the phenomenon from the inside.

AMATEUR FLESH: MOLLY

The photos and videos of Molly have something special about them: they've taken me straight back to another era. Back to those years when the first cell phones started coming with cameras and the image quality left a lot to be desired compared to what we have today. Grainy, low-definition photos, strange colors, and lighting that was almost always far from perfect, but with that homemade, spontaneous feel that somehow made everything seem much more real.

Looking at her is like traveling back in time for a few seconds. And we all know what happens with the past: we tend to remember it as being better than it probably was. Maybe it's nostalgia, longing, fear of the future, or simply because we associate certain memories with good times... whatever the reason, the effect is always the same. We look back fondly, as if that era had something special that, somehow, we've gradually lost along the way.

And that's exactly what Molly's images make me feel: a brief return to a time when everything didn't have to look perfect. There was no 4K, no filters, no retouching, and no cameras capable of capturing every last detail. And perhaps that's why, paradoxically, the imperfections were exactly what made everything feel more authentic.
