THE PAINTINGS OF VALERIIA KOZHUKHOVA

Long before museums, art academies, or Instagram existed, human beings were already painting, sculpting, and drawing the female body.

We have turned it into a symbol of fertility, motherhood, beauty, desire, power, sin, or freedom, depending on the era and on who was holding the brush. It has appeared on cave walls, in ancient sculptures, frescoes, paintings, photographs, and now on digital screens as well.





And this fascination has never belonged exclusively to men. For centuries, men and women have tried to understand and portray a body capable of expressing so much without saying a single word. An arched back, crossed legs, or the curve of a hip can convey intimacy, vulnerability, strength, or desire, depending entirely on the artist’s perspective.

Perhaps that is why we keep coming back to it. The female body offers endless possibilities and, no matter how many times it has been portrayed, it never runs out of things to say as an artistic subject. Every era interprets it in its own way, and every artist finds something different to express through it.

Artist Valeriia Kozhukhova continues that tradition through paintings, watercolors, and digital artwork featuring nude women or women portrayed in intimate and sensual poses.

In her work, eroticism does not depend on showing everything. Sometimes a pose, a glance, a shadow, or a handful of strokes is enough to awaken something in the viewer. The body becomes a model, a landscape, and a language all at once.

The tools, styles, and places where we view art have changed, but the fascination remains untouched.

The same thing has happened in many other fields. In the past, if you wanted to share your opinions with an audience, you needed to work for a newspaper, radio station or television network. Now, all you need to do is open a channel and start talking from your living room. Musicians can produce songs in their bedrooms, streamers broadcast games from their desks, and anyone can become a food critic after ordering a burger and pointing their phone at it.

The amateur aesthetic has become professional, while professional content has learned how to look amateur. That sense of closeness, the apparent lack of preparation and the feeling that you’re watching something spontaneous create a connection that many traditional productions simply can’t achieve.

That fusion is even more obvious in adult content. The photos may look like they were taken without much planning, and the videos may retain that intimate, homemade feel, but there’s usually a strategy, an audience and a link behind it all that can turn every visit into a potential subscriber.
